General Information

At Stake in this Election: 

  • All seats in the Phillippines House of Representatives.  

  • Chief of State: President Ferdinand “BongBong” MARCOS, Jr. (since 30 June 2022)  

  • Head of Government: President Ferdinand “BongBong” MARCOS, Jr. (since 30 June 2022) 

  • Assembly: bicameral Congress (Kongreso) comprised of a multi-seat* House of Representatives (Kapulungan Ng Mga Kinatawan) and a 24-seat Senate (Senado).  

  • The President and Vice President are directly elected on separate ballots by simple majority vote for a single six-year term. 

  • All members of the House of Representatives are directly elected, with 20% of seats elected using a party-list systems and the remaining from geographic districts. As of March 2025, there are 318 members, but the seat count varies over time according to population distribution. 

  • All 24 members of the Senate are directly elected at-large and serve six-year terms. Half of the Senate (12 members) is renewed every three years. 

The last election for the House of Representatives was held on May 9, 2022. The Philippine Democratic Party – People's Power (PDP Laban) won 66 seats, the Nacionalista Party won 36 seats, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) won 35 seats, the National Unity Party (NUP) won 33 seats, Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats won 35 seats. All other parties won 10 or fewer seats. Voter turnout was 84%.

New/Unique in this Election: 

In 2024, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced changes that reduced the time window in which candidates can be withdrawn or substituted. The changes aim to curb the practice of parties fielding “placeholder” candidates to make strategic substitutions closer to election day.
