At Stake in this Election:  

Voters will decide on the following question: 

  • “Do you approve of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2025?” 

If successful, the referendum will change parliamentary terms from 3 years to 4.  

 

  • Chief of State: President David Ranibok ADEANG (since 30 October 2023) 

  • Head of Government: President David Ranibok ADEANG (since 30 October 2023) 

  • Assembly: unicameral, 19-seat parliament.  

  

  • The President is indirectly elected via Parliament for a 3-year term, renewable once. The President is both the Chief of State and Head of Government.  

  • Members of Parliament are directly elected via a plurality system to serve 3-year terms.  

  

The last referendum was held on November 13, 2021. Voter turnout was 82%.
