Electoral System: 

  • The President is elected by absolute majority vote to serve up to two 5-year terms.  

  • 112 members of the National Assembly (Assemblée Nationale) are directly elected by a plurality vote in single and multi-seat constituencies (of these, 15 seats are saved for diaspora voters), under a majoritarian system. 53 members are elected by a proportional representation vote based on the national distribution of votes. All members serve 5-year terms.
