Members of the National Assembly are directly elected via a majoritarian system in multi-member constituencies to serve 5-year terms. There are no term limits. Members’ terms may be extended for up to 12 months in special circumstances.
The last election for the National Assembly was held on May 23, 2021. The Communist Party of Vietnam won 485 seats. Non-party members won 14 seats. Voter turnout was reported at 99.6%.
