All 140 members of Parliament (Kuvendi) are directly elected by proportional representation to serve a 4-year term.
The most recent parliamentary election was held on April 25, 2021. The Socialist Party of Albania won 74 seats, the Democratic Party of Albania won 59 seats, the Socialist Movement for Integration won 4 seats, and the Social Democracy Party of Albania won 3 seats. Voter turnout was 46% overall.

New/Unique in this Election:
This is the first election in Albania’s history where diaspora voting will be permitted. The Albanian Central Election Commission noted in a March 2025 press conference that 294,155 Albanians living abroad have registered to vote, with 245,975 of those applications approved. Additionally, in March 2025, the application TikTok was banned for a period of one year by order of the Cabinet. The opposition party raised concerns that it would limit political speech in an election year.
