At Stake in this Election:
On 22 September 2024, Liechtensteiners will vote in a referendum on joining the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The referendum question is as follows:
“Do you accept the resolution of the State Parliament of 16 May on the approval of the Agreement of 22 July 1944 on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and on Resolution No. 79-2 on the membership of the Principality of Liechtenstein (IMF accession)?”
Response options are yes (ja) or no (nein).

- Head of Government: Prime Minister Daniel RISCH (since 25 March 2021)
- Assembly: unicameral Parliament (Landtag) with 25 seats
- The Prince is a hereditary monarch.

- In Parliament, all 25 members are directly elected by open-list proportional representation vote within multi-seat constituencies. All members serve 4-year terms.
In the June 2024 referendum, voters affirmed a Parliamentary decision to take on a supplemental construction loan for major improvements to the Liechtenstein National Hospital. Voter turnout was 67%.
