European Parliament elections, including contests for 17 Bulgarian seats, will occur concurrently.

The President is directly elected by absolute majority popular vote in up to two rounds. The president may serve up to two 5-year terms.

The Prime Minister is elected by the National Assembly.

Members of the National Assembly are directly elected by proportional representation vote in multi-seat constituencies. Parties and coalitions must earn at least 4% of the overall vote to receive a seat. Members serve 4-year terms.
In the 2023 snap election, six coalitions and parties won seats led by GERB-SDS with 64 seats. Voter turnout was 39.11%.
New/Unique in this Election:
This will be Bulgaria’s sixth legislative election since 2021. President Radev dissolved the National Assembly in March of 2024 and called a snap election after the governing coalition fell apart.
