At Stake in this Election: 

  • Presidency of Chad

  • Chief of State: President Mahamat Idriss DÉBY Itno (since 20 April 2021)  

  • Head of Government: Prime Minister Albert Pahimi PADACKE (since 26 April 2021)  

  • Assembly: unicameral National Transitional Council (Conseil National de Transition) with 93 members  

  • Chad is currently controlled by a Transitional Military Council rather than elected officials. Members of the National Transitional Council were appointed by the President. 

In the 2021 presidential election, Idriss DÉBY won with 79.32% of the vote. Voter turnout was 62.51%.
