Government Structure: 

• Chief of State: Prince Albert II (since 6 Apr 2005) 

• Head of Government: Prime Minister Pierre DARTOUT (since 1 Sept 2020) 

• Assembly: Unicameral legislature consisting of a 24-member National Council 

Electoral System:  

• The Chief of State is a hereditary role. 

• The Prime Minister is appointed by the Chief of State. 

• The 24 members of the National Council are elected to five-year terms. 16 members are chosen by earning the highest number of votes. The remaining 8 seats are chosen from lists using proportional representation with parties receiving at least 5% of the vote.
